Summertime - Jardí de les Ciències

After a warm and dry winter (December, January and February) and beginning of spring cold and wet (March), we have prepared the garden for spring and summer.
Planting Calendulas
He have planted: lemon balm (Melissa officinalis), parsley (Petroselinum crispum) and calendula (Calendula sp.). We have also sown beans (Phaesolus vulgaris) and pumpkins (Curcubita sp.).

Personally I like beans with pods colors. The last year I bought beans with golden pods and purple pods in Sofia (Bulgaria).

FAO has declared 2016 as International Year of pulses. We have talked about beans, peas, lentils, chickpeas, fava beans and soybeans and their importance for human and animal nutrition, for the climate, soil and fertility conservation. We have shown Catalonians landraces of beans (mongetes del ganxet i mongetes del carai) and Asturian landrace of bean (Faba Asturiana).
